Tony Hawk and Friends final performance in Brighton

The Tony Hawk & Friends European Tour was a magnificent success in Brighton. After travelling the continent, Tony Hawk and his team Sandro Dias, Jesse Fritsch, Kevin Staab and Neil Hendrix, gave the ultimate performance to celebrate the end of the tour in front of a sell out crowd of 3,300 people on the famous Brighton sea front. Almost the same number again watched Hawk and the Birdhouse riders from behind the ramp on the promenade.

With a number of English friends, Tony Hawk was happy to return to the UK for the final leg of the European tour. During his time in Brighton, the legendary ramp rider and his Birdhouse team made an unexpected stop yesterday at the local skate park, causing huge excitement by surprising local skaters.

Tonight, Tony and friends wanted to finish the European tour on a high performance and therefore the lucky ticket holders that came to support the British skaters (Sam Bosworth, Sam Beckett, Andy Scott, Jussi Korhonen, Alex Halford), Tony Hawk, Birdhouse and the infamous rock group Maximo Park, were not disappointed.

Tony and friends gave the longest show of the tour with a multiple of magical combinations. Tony Hawk and Sandro Dias, with 10 and 5 X-Games medals respectively, performed a sublime 540° together. After the famous 900° in Barcelona, Tony then landed a 720° and 540° ollie on the biggest portable ramp in the UK, owned by Pete King.

Tony Hawk lands the 900° in front of 25 000 spectators in Barcelona !

Tony Hawk, the greatest skateboarder of all time, tonight made an astonishing performance in Europe's Skateboarding Mecca, Barcelona for the 3rd stop of the Quiksilver Tony Hawk & Friends European Skateboarding Tour.

In front of more than 25 000 spectators massed on the magnificent Plaza del Mar beach in La Barceloneta, the 10 time X Games gold medallist, along with his friends Jessie Fritsch, Sandro Dias, Neil Hendrix and Kevin Staab and a couple of Birdhouse young riders, surpassed themselves to entertain the massive crowd packed up around Europe's biggest portable vert ramp especially built up for the show.

They all displayed their best manoeuvres : airs and liptricks in both old school and modern styles but the public went mad when the Birdman landed a perfect 900°. After some spectacular attempts, supported by the crowd chanting his name, Tony finally succeeded in nailing the two and a half rotation that he built his legend on.

“It's the biggest crowd I've ever skated for in my entire life” Tony Hawk confessed after the show.

The Tony Hawk European Skateboarding Tour is now heading to the UK for the last stop of the Tour in Brighton on July 21st.

The greatest skateboarder of history, 10 time X Games gold medallist, displayed his best tricks – smooth 80's manoeuvres as well as super modern moves - on the giant vert ramp settled in Max Schmeling Halle.

Tony Hawk, Jesse Fritsch, Jean Postec, Kevin Staab and Flying Brazilian Sandro Dias destroyed the monumental G-ramps vert - 22 meters wide and 4 meters high – and drove mad the 5000 spectators. Even casted because of a broken wrist, Frenchman Jean Postec honoured the audience as well as Jesse Fritsch and inimitable Kevin Staab both in an amazing form. Sandro Dias, 5 time world Champion and 2 time X Games gold medallist made the show with his powerful and aerial tricks defying the laws of gravity. Even, young Birdhouse rider Aaron “Jaws”Homoki showed up on vert and offered a sweet combination with his mentor Tony Hawk.

A few moments after an outstanding show, N«E«R«D, the successful trio consisting in Pharrell Williams Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, performed a unforgettable live concert in front of the giant vert ramp. As a good friend of Tony Hawk, the charismatic leader of NERD Pharrell Williams, also a very good skateboarder, fired the audience.

Quiksilver Tony Hawk & Friends Skate Show, presented by Sony Ericsson!

The world's most famous skateboarder, Tony Hawk, will be touring Berlin, Barcelona, Rome and Brighton with his crew of the world's greatest vert skaters.

The Brighton show will be held on the seafront at The Old Paddling, Brighton, on Wednesday 21st July 2010, hosted by Christian Stevenson on the decks and Bob Sanderson on the mic.

Brighton's show will kick off with a demo from the UK's best vert skaters, including Quiksilver skaters Pete King and Sam Bosworth. The vert ramp, built by Pete King and his lads at King Ramps, is one of the largest in Europe - measuring in at a huge 4.5m high and 15m wide.

At 8pm Dave Duncan will jump on the mic with Bob to present the Quiksilver Tony Hawk & Friends show, where Tony Hawk & friends: Kevin Staab, Jesse Fritsch, Sandros Dias, Jean Postec will get up on the vert ramp to put on an awe-inspiring and jaw dropping display of the best vert skating the world has ever seen.

After all the skate awesomeness MAXIMO PARK will perform live and exclusively for the Quiksilver Tony Hawk & Friends Show!!

QUIKSILVER SKATE IN VISION’S GREAT OPENING IN MADRID

After an intense week of skateboarding and photography in Madrid, last Friday, May 14th, Quiksilver Skate in Vision opened its exhibition.

Those who attended the party that was held at Espacio Espora (C/Embajadores 35) enjoyed looking at all the pictures that had been taken over the week and had to choose their favourite one. At the end the winner photo with the most votes was the one taken by Patxi Pardiñas at the local rider, Juan Cru. Both received a 500 euros cheque.

But the competition is not over yet… very soon all the pictures from Quiksilver Skate in Vision will be posted for public voting at www.dogwaymedia.com.
