The Quiksilver Pro presented by LG Mobile is on track for a thrilling finale, with round three completed in rising 1.5-2-metre waves at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast today.

The season-opening ASP men’s world tour event saw the eight remaining heats of round three being completed before contest organiser’s put a halt to competition with Cyclone Hamish expected to generate ideal tubing surfing conditions over the next two days.

Current world no.2 Bede Durbidge (Currumbin, Aus) joined fellow Gold Coast surfers Mick Fanning and Bede Durbidge in round four after posting a sensation win over Burleigh Head’s ace Jay Thompson in the opening heat of the day.

American ace Dane Reynolds was again the standout performer, locking in a 9.4 in his win over Hawaiian Roy Powers.

In round two, Reynolds scored the first perfect 10 of the 2009 ASP World Tour season for an incredible righthander in which he linked a barrage of high-performance manoeuvres including a massive double-grab aerial seamlessly flowing into another exciting air reverse.

Reynolds recording a 15.23 total to Roy’s 13.87.
