Maxime Huscenot (France) took a third place result in the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Championships.  The most prestigious event in junior surfing took place in Ecuador in hot, sunny, surfing conditions.  Maxime was the highest placed European in the Under 18 category and helped the French Team reach 5th overall in the World rankings.

Maxime won a host of his qualifying heats in conditions that peaked with a 6-8ft swell.  Huge crowds packed Salinas, Ecuador to watch the world’s best battle it out for the glory of becoming World Champion.  Maxime had surfed hard over the 8-day period but couldn’t quite win the most important heat of the event, the final.  The 3-4 ft surf allowed Maxime a great ride in the final with a fantastic free falling floater, but time ran out before he could back up his wave and challenge for the top spot.

Maxime has been rising to the top echelon of junior European surfing and now the world has seen his talent and any competitors will fear his name when they see his name on the heat sheet.  He is part of the next generation of the Quiksilver team and is eager to follow in the footsteps of teammates and friends Jeremy Flores and Kelly Slater.
