There are people who were born to be boardriders and 23 years old Mathieu Crépel is part of it. The most gifted french snowboarder of his generation, Matthieu Crépel grew and learned snowboarding in the Pyrenean resort of La Mongie, in the Tourmalet field, one of the best snowboarding areas in the Pyrenees. His talents on a snowboard turned out to be rapidly exceptional and at a every young age, Mathieu had already considered a career in snowboarding. Coached by his father Bernard and supported since his beginning by Quiksilver, Mathieu Crépel followed a quick progress punctuated with competitions and trips without his schooling being unsettled as Mathieu Crépel wanted to acquire his graduation diploma before launching himself into the world of professional snowboarding. His eloquent honours list makes him the most rewarded snowboarder at national level with no less than 7 french half pipe champion titles. At international level, it already counts a FIS half pipe world champion title in 2005, followed by a world champion title in the TTR Freestyle World Tour the same year. Even if the disappointment of the Olympic Games in Turin was big for Matt, the Pyrenean rider however, still young and always positive, has not said his last word for the OG yet and we can bet on his presence for 2010 in Vancouver, in British Colombia, the Mecca of Canadian snowboarding.
But besides his talents of contestant, Matt is first of all a freestyler which bag of tricks mixes the modernity and complexity of today's snowboarding with a style and a rare precision that makes everything he lands look easy.
For Matt Crépel snowboarding also rhymes with trip. At 22 years old, the young snowboarder already counts several world tours. He recently was in New Zealand for the first time for a Quiksilver photo shoot in New Zealand where he rode the mountains and park of Wanaka, another special part of the world among the many places he already visited : Greenland, Canada, Japan, Australia and South America, who would not dream to have Mathieu's life ?
