ABOUT GABE: Since catching his first wave in the icy waters of Tynemouth in North East England, he now divides his time between Hossegor, SW France, the UK and Ireland. He loves nothing more than travelling to chase swells. He has pioneered new breaks across UK, Ireland and Scotland, helping to put alternative places on the global surf map. Gabe was one of the pioneers of British tow-in surfing and in 2008 rode the biggest wave ever ridden in Ireland, making international headlines. Like any pro surfer worth his wax, he has also spent more seasoned time than most on the North Shore of Hawaii. Gabe describes himself as being "Mellow yet driven, chilled until it's time to charge." He is positive, loyal, solid, and lives his life knowing that just like in surfing "timing is everything," so being in the right place at the right time is what counts the most to him.
Gabe recently starred in and played a pivotal role in the production of Waveriders, the 35mm Award winning documentary that hit the cinemas across the UK and Ireland, and globally at numerous film festivals. He has regular major TV, Radio and Press coverage and is media savvy. Highlights include: Channel 4 ‘SURF TRIP' six part series, which Gabe co-presented with Tess Daly. He has presented for the BBC, Sky Sports and other projects include: ‘Eye Of The Storm' a 52min TV film shown on RTE and in France; BBC Teenage Video Diary and promotional work for Surfers Against Sewage, including their latest film, which will be released on the cover of The Surfer's Path.
As well as being sponsored by Quiksilver, Gabe works with the marketing and communications department of the company, writing and translating.
